The brief was quite simple; design a reliable monster engine, big enough to pull out tree trunks, and put it into a purpose designed casing that utilises economic performance parts and original Lambretta components. After much research I settled on Honda CR250 and TS250 donar components for the top end with a custom billet water cooled barrel (check it out, all CNC no casting!) It is a festival of CAD erotica and it's been a real laugh getting through it all. The real question is, who has got the balls to go for it? The worry is always the cost so a "Bill of Materials" excel costing file will get posted. If you're seriously up for it and the estimated costings have not scared you off then send me a mail and we'll see if this "head banger" of an engine can make it off the screen. See it, in all it's glory, in the CAD model HERE when the file has down loaded, unzip it (PC users only, no MAC version) and double click to open. you will get a couple of prompts to accept terms, click OK. The 3D CAD model will then open and you can play about. The best technique is open the parts menu on the left hand margin then right click parts to view and hide etc. Spend so time to investigate the program, you can do everything, show & hide parts, move and drag them around the screen, cross section, zoom in pan and rotate...it's the full nine yards. I'm always interested in your feed back so send me a mail with sensible comments and questions. Currently, it is a work in progess when I get the time but you can see where it's going and maybe if there are a couple of serious enquiries out there it will get built. |

There are loads of really trick features all over this assembly, the barrel is just one of them. I searched all over to get a suitable case inducted cylinder with no success. In the end I decided to see if it could be a CNC part and what do you know, it can. This design also utilises the CR250 expansion chamber, cut and re-orientated ( a great low cost solution you can get from Ebay). |

The full assembly with frame section drawn in to show clearence. Cooling come from 2 x Moto X rads monted on the leg shields. Water pump is yet to be added but runs direct off the crank and utilises Piaggio impellor. Under sonsideration is ancillary drive for oil pump and auto lube pump but we'll see how we go, I'm not promising. |
